pearly gates has a 5-10 foot section of 70 degree alpine ice in it this year. makes it a bit harder but a lot more interesting.
i would recommend old chute or its neighbor mazama chute for the easiest route up.
as far as anyone summiting yet, probably about 1,000 people summitted in the good weather of late april early may. so yeah....
