I've also enjoyed this event in years past, but have heard rumors that the NPS disapproves:

Might be best to keep a low profile, since MRNP Superintendent's Compendium of regulations lists as verboten:
"2.50(a) Conduct a sports event, pagent, regatta, public spectator attraction, entertainment, ceremony, or similar event."

Aren't there some ponds outside the Park at Chinook Pass?

So, no TAY Slush Cup 2013 Regatta? How would the park feel about a Derby?

Skier8484 and myself will carry in the rescue dinghy for any mishaps.

Agreed! Who's bringing Kyle a lifevest? ;D

If the NPS mellow harsh prevents the normal venue from being used, I'm sure there are many other suitable locations to be had as well!

It's a bit early in the year to be scouting the tarn for a Slush Cup but definitely not too soon to be reminiscing about much fun it was. It used to be a regular annual late summer event that required folks to scout the Pinnacle "Glacier" tarn for several weeks preceding the event to get the timing and weather window nailed. I happen to know the folks that did most of the tarn scouting for that event. I think it may have been the most fun “regular annual” backcountry event I can think of.

Here’s one of the of Jerry White’s better viddies on the event . That's year NPR Radio attended. I think it was the next year that the Yakima Herald did a big spread on it. As Randy so aptly put it:

I think the  Pinnacle Slush Cup was a victim of it's own popularity -- when it was just a small group of friends it was no BFD -- but a few dozen people was too much.

Yeah – and it was likely much more than “dozens” towards the end.  But what a Hoot :)

If the NPS mellow harsh prevents the normal venue from being used, I'm sure there are many other suitable locations to be had as well!

Here's an another potential site (yellow dot) within 300 ft elevation of the former Tatoosh site, a similar northerly aspect, an actual stone's throw just outside the MRNP boundary and with better access.

Location: 46.86809,-121.50090, Elevation +/-5650 (NAD83 map datum)

Might work better for us for years to come as long as we ensure that no one gets drown or badly maimed during the event.

And I happen to know who has the "official" Slush Cup Life Preserver Ring  :D

A slush cup happened last year in June near Terminal Lake (Mt Baker ski area). I would expect it to happen again, watch for something from the guys from Innate in Bellingahm.
