Chinook Pass Area 2013

Hello,

Work on SR 410 and SR 123 is well under way and progress has been good so far. Keep in mind that snow removal and avalanche control in the Chinook and Cayuse areas takes place Monday-Friday. I'll give an extra heads up if we happen to be there on a weekend. Please see the map for reference.

I'll try to keep you informed about progress and related snow stability info as well.

Does the DOT have any problem with non-motorized use of the cleared portions of 410 on weekends?

The North Cascades Highway crews worked Monday through Thursday and invited cyclists to use the highway on days when the crews were not at work.

I have seen bikes toting skis in the past ... might be a good way to get some early turns.

fYI- Avalanche Control will be take place this Friday on Chinook Pass

Slipslider: I don' think there would be any problem. Keep in mind that our crews work Monday through Friday. I will try to add a post if any special work is planned for the weekends.

We've finished avalanche work on Chinook, excepting significant new snowfall. Maintenance crews are finishing work on the road (snowbank issues, signs, etc.). We will keep the avalanche warning signs in place for another week or so just in case.
