New AT binding system was created by jdclimber
Saw this floating around, thought it was pretty cool. I love it when people start making their own skis and bindings

For the record, I have zero affiliation, and frankly wouldn't know how to ski a system with a confined heel, besides it would slow me down and make me look silly.

This concept has been kicked around for 2-3yrs now, but I wouldn't call it a new binding. It's a swap plate designed to use existing tech and alpine toes pieces and requires that you carry one set in the pack on the up and down.
Seems to be an ideal solution for gnarbros hoping to get their transition times more in line with our splitboarding brethen.

Icy Dynafit fittings level the playing field when it comes to transition times...
Besides, it's only fair that they wait for me after I wait for them on the way down.

I applaud their effort and desire to build a new system, hope they succeed. This would be especially useful for folks who already have both sets of binders. However, you are still packing the full weight of alpine bindings, only part of it on your feet, plus an extra 500 grams, so 1.1 lbs for the plates, plus your touring toepiece. So all in I am not sure this weights much less than my Atomic Tracker.

I talked to these guys at length on the floor of the OR show back in January.
The point of the system is to be able to have an efficient tour up, with a "high DIN, full metal jacket" (think Look FKS 180 or Salomon 916Lab) binding for the down, in big terrain. These guys compete in Freeride comps and are concerned about binding failure and premature release and do not consider bindings like the Duke or the Tracker to be up to the task.
Paraphrasing what I was told.

Sounds like it may be a good product for about .01% of the touring community.
