Where to XC + Real skiing was created by climberjesse
My wife really likes to XC ski and has no interest in getting a ski/skin setup. I much prefer real BC skiing. Does anyone have any ideas where we could go XC skiing and I could maybe hop off and do some short laps still within view?
We are planning on going to the Gold Creek Snow Park (AKA the zoo) tomorrow and I am trying to find a better alternative.

PV road is often quickly destroyed by snowshoers and postholers for XC skiing; use of heavy duty tele or AT ameliorates the impacts from others users; the road can be dangerous for normal XC gear IMHO. For those who are in good shape, Stevens Canyon road offers the opportunity to break trail. Bronka and Ake Sundstrom used to regularly ski from Paradise down the PV Road to the Stevens Canyon Road to Box Canyon and back in a day; I suspect they would skip the PV Road today if they were still skiing.

Snoqualmie East / Nordic sounds like a fit. Lots of XC and adjacent BC with avys and cliff outs. Get there early to park.

I hear White Pass has some of the best XC trails in the NW and rumor has it that there is also a DH area there...
