Dogs at Hyak during lift hrs? was created by hyak.net
For those who like to skin up Hyak near the end of the day with their dog....please DON'T!  Monday someone made it up near the top of Hyak around 4pm, lifts still running and their white sheppard/husky type dog decided it was time to chase my friends and I down the hill. That dog ran after us all the way to Serpentine dodging in between us within a foot of our legs.  One thing I'll say is that dog was fast, but it is absolutely stupid for someone to be skinning up the mtn during lift hrs with a dog.  I am surprised the ski patrol didn't stop them sooner unless they came up through the nordic trails and were not seen?

BTW, a buddy of mine lost his GoPro somewhere at Hyak near the end of the day and is offering a reward if found. My guess is it is going to end up under a couple feet of snow by the time the area opens Saturday so it may not show up til' spring...

same message to people traveling the source lake trail against skier traffic with dogs.
go across the valley to the tour side or N. side of drainage for uphill would be much safer.

Or hang a right and follow the meadows at the valley bottom until past the mushroom.
