Yes, you should should ski with it before recommended!

Maybe then cause a open fx the ortho guys will love you for that.

No ice storms this year, so as of yet no ponies for the kids of Ortho docs!

Do your part.

But seriously, I bet you are typing while taking pain meds, you sound silly. Do what they tell you to. Speak less listen more!

Oh and yes get medical advice from TAY!

Peace

J

Chill out! If you actually read my post I said I was tempted - not that I was going to do it.  I very well know the consequences of re-breaking it again, and will follow the doc's recommendations. Also, if you read more carefully I did NOT really ask for medical advice, I was asking for first person accounts from those who had the same injury took before being able to get out there again ( I have a pretty good BS filter, and understand that fracture strength is measured in the healing process as Nm/mm^2 Newton meters per millimeter squared of break area, and also know the values for fracture strength at the various stages versus that of a fully healed bone), and any recommendations for an orthopedic doc.

Something like "I had a spiral fracture in my humerus, I started skiing again after X weeks/months on easy runs, took a full Y months/years before my range of motion was back to normal for skiing"

As for the pain meds, the doc did prescribe percocet, where I only take one at night - that's it.

So, did you even answer ONE of my questions? NO (thanks for nothing)
Did you write a somewhat unjustifiable invective? YES

As for your advice of "speak less, listen more" it was my intent to solicit information (listen) not give it.

A recommendation for you, read a post more carefully, then read it again before composing an invective.

Yes, you should should ski with it before recommended!

Hey there Jason4, your post gave me a good laugh when I got to the punchline of being two at the time, before that point I was pretty mortified!  Thank you.

I broke my humerus once and was up and running within 2 weeks.  Unfortunately that's when I fell out of a window and landed in the lawn flat on my back.  My parents took me back to the hospital where they x-rayed me head to toe and found the break in my arm...  I was less than 2 at the time and didn't have much to say about it. :D

I don't really have anything to add but hopefully you'll get a chuckle out of my experience.  Good luck with the healing and if it's just bone my experience has been back in action in ~6 weeks.  If there is serious soft tissue damage then things may take longer.  At least it was an arm and you're still able to walk around.

Sigh, I had noticed this phenomenon in this forum in the past. The best reply so far was the bit of humor from Jason4.

Don't sweat it, RRon, you're banged up - all meant in fun I'm sure. But one thing to blog thrash about is you are so justified in how you felt about the first guy. As a specialist physician who needs to use mid-level providers (PA's, NP's) in his practice, I feel compelled to comment on the first orthopedist's behavior. You broke your humerus in two places. You deserved to see the orthopedist. Good on you for giving that joker his walking papers.
