That sure looks like Galena summit vicinity, north of Sun Valley. The slope, if it's the one I'm familiar with is notorious for being slide prone & a real good place to find an avalanche. The suggestion to test twice is good but it was the second cut being slightly lower and more aggressive that got things moving. With a party of fellow tourers, we belayed a skier who stomped and worked back and forth across the top of a col getting no action. The first turn attempt started a good size release that altered our plan in a hurry. I would never consider this method a sure fire test before skiing a slope. If anyone with Patrol experience checks the video out, I'd be very interested in their point of view?

It looks about right to me, taking a swooping cut with speed and a safety zone target. Generally ski cutting is done in pairs so someone has eyes on as the cut is made. And yeah, his first cut was wimpy, most experienced patrollers I've worked with would've gone for the lower and faster cut first. Or just thrown a small blaster...
