La Sportiva Hi5s and skins was created by TN
Been on mine for a year now and love 'em in pow, crust and corn. I'm 5'10"
and 140 lbs at most and am on the 178. Mainly wanted to warn about the La Sportiva skins made by Pomoca - NOT worth the money! The backing material is simply not beefy enough and curls up and away from the edges. They never failed to stay on but sometimes would be held only by a thin strip in the middle after a couple laps. I renewed and added glue all season long. In the Spring I had to spend a couple of hours after every ski day to get the needles off and renew the glue! I've replaced them now with good old reliable Black Diamond skins. I believe you can also get the same quality with "Climbing Skins Direct".
I have seen this same curling happening with other of the "lightweight" skins. Just last week a partner's brand new K2 skins would not stick for a second run after curling badly on the first hike of a very cold day. K2 won't sell me their tip and tail attachments so I had to stick with BDs STS which work very well. I did like the simplicity of the hook in the tip hole but a skin that sticks is much more important!
Lotsa pow here in the NCs! Happy Skiing!

Darn, first year on the same setup and I noticed the curling today. Never failed and didn't find any extra snow under the edges but I thought a bit odd. First I have read about it. Hope it doesn't go any farther than occasional curling for me. What did Sportiva have to say?

The current K2 and Dynafit skins are also made by Pomoca (company is owned by Dynafit) - glue is definitely not as sticky as BD's but they've worked well for me for years. It helps to trim the tips and tails of all of these skins so the ends are narrower and the peeling doesn't start so easily . . .

I have not tried to get in touch with La Sportiva. You can get those skins so sticky with new BD glue that they take two people to pull apart but still they curl up. They now reside in my truck full time in case I forget to grab my BD skins from where they were drying overnight (yeah, I have done that). Already came in handy when a friend forgot her's one morning!
My partner yesterday has older K2 skins (light blue) and seems to have no problem curling or sticking.

The first generation K2 skins (light grey) were from Climbing Skins Direct
