Dynafit Base Delamination...Is this my fault? was created by bwalt822
So I had a pair of Dynafit Mustagh ATA's that within a year had the edges of the base delaminating and peeling up slightly. Dynafit replaced them for free. I took the replacement skis out for a preseason wax and they are showing the same issue. These skis are just over a year old, have maybe 20 days on them, have been waxed 2 or 3 times by me, and have never had a base grind or tune. Is this something I am doing or is this an issue with the skis?
I'm afraid that I cant have the bases ground ever because it will grind the area of the base sticking up away causing the edges to stick out when pressure is placed on the bases.

What sort of iron are you using for waxing ? -- If it is a clothes iron and/or the wax smokes while you are ironing it in.... that could be a problem.

Its a swix iron that i had set at 135. The wax never smoked. My wifes BD skis which I wax the same way don't have this issue.

My buddy's 7summits have a similar base delamination. I was going to try and fix them for him, but after inspecting the damage I concluded that the core had gotten wet and swelled up so there was no way that the base could be reglued and also be truely flat without scraping out the part of the base that had been deformed prior to attempting the repair.
IF your base is still mostly flat and you just have a delamination, you could repair it pretty easily.

Is there a way to fix it at home? How would I inject epoxy underneath it? I have a feeling I'll be chasing these delaminations until i get sick of it and just get new skis.
