[quote Question: anyone backpack-rig puppies for skiing or have any clever ideas on how to do that in a way that keeps the pup warm and safe? I'd like to take him out this winter rather than leave him in the truck or at home.
At Crystal Fest a few years ago, we watched a few type A's climb up and ski off the King. A little while later, Wolfs came hiking up to the barbecue. He admitted to being one of the skiers, then he unzipped his coat and out popped the tiniest ski dog I've seen in the mountains. I don't know what age or breed the dog was.

touring with my dogs has helped me forget how tired i get sometimes. other times they drive me crazy wondering where they've gone. usually i just watch em dance or burrow or plow through the pack when i'm not yelling at iris to get off my tails.

That is a dangerous place and it seems like there are a lot of people just out for the day that have never been in that area and dont know that there is a lot of fast ski traffic.
And yes, it is the dog owners responsibility to keep their pet safe in that environment. Whenever I tour up the CPB trail/Alpental exit trail with my dog I like to get out by 8 AM assuming I can make it to source lake in 20-30 mins or so and miss all the traffic coming down until I am going out myself with the traffic skiing out.

Hey Dog Owners,
No meanness intended here. But on my way out from Source Lake yesterday I almost creamed a poodle (yes, a true poodle) that ran up to me right after I came down the ramp by the watertower. Keep an eye out for downhill traffic (esp OOCs like me) for the pooch's good health. I'd have hated to hit the poor thing. It just wanted to say hi.

My neighbor behind me has a blue heeler and unfortunately it is one of the most annoying dogs I've ever known. When it hears me come home and it is outside it runs near my door and starts barking at me. When I go out on my deck it will bark at me and sometimes it will come up on the road, hang about 7' away from me and just bark when I'm working outside. Like any breed there are good and bad as all dogs have their own personality, but this particular dog has truly put this breed into the doghouse for me.
I love big dogs.....Newfoundlands, St Bernard s, and my dog is a Bernese Mtn dog. I also like Golden Retrievers and Lab's but they are not what I consider 'big' dogs but I wouldn't mind having either one of those too.

My friend had a terrier with a bark which "made you want to rip your eyes out". The friend was having dinner party and dog wouldnt let up when another friend showed us a trick. She put a handfull of gravel in a coke can, taped the top shut, then shook the can hard when ever the dog opened its mouth - the dog stopped trying in less than five minutes - a miracle!!!!
does the blue Healer get snow balls in his toes? I want a smart independant dog with webbed feet and short toe hair.

Blitz I'm going to have to remember that one. Sounds like a natural deterrent rather than a "learned" one, which I'm all about for simplicity's sake!
