DEE MOLENAAR was created by JWBerrens

We picked up Dee's long awaited autobiography last friday night from Dee.
It looks like Dee published the book himself and the book contains no photos or any of his paintings except the front cover.
Anyone who has spent time in the mountains should have this book on their shelf.
The book is call Memoirs of a Dinosaur Moutaineer.

That's great news, Jeff!

Do you know where the book will be available?

It's a shame (a travesty, really) that Dee could not find a commercial publisher for his book. Life really isn't fair sometimes.  ???

Back when Dee was trying to get The Mountaineers Books or the University of Washington Press (or anybody) to publish it, we ran a single chapter of the book in the Northwest Mountaineering Journal. You can find it here:

www.mountaineers.org/nwmj/06/061_Molenaar.html

The NWMJ story includes a few photos and a small collection of Dee's paintings. His book was supposed to be filled with his wonderful artwork, but alas, there was not a sufficient market for it.

I'm eager to get my hands on Dee's self-published work anyway ...

Hi Lowell
Dee's book is only available through Amazon. com. Maybe Ashford Creek Pottery will have some since Dee has paintings there.
He had the book published by an Amazon owned company.
The book is 339 pages of good reading the type of book you just want to keep reading!
Dee says now he has to get busy and release a book of sketches, Paintings , maps and a few photos.
At 94 he is still going strong.

Lowell, Maybe you can convince the Mountaineers to host a book release party for Dee and show some Dinosaur films from the Spring family?

His paintings are amazing. Beautiful and romantic yet accurate.
I hope he gets a publisher for his book of maps and drawings.

While the economics of paper publishing for niche topics are pretty brutal, ebooks are proving themselves. Definitely a viable option.
