Snomo sleds was created by davidG
Any of you motorized approach folks have input on what to look for, and where to find a good tow-behind sled? On behalf of MTTA, I'm looking to find some quality units to haul fuel and hut supplies, and might even want to consider the capacity for an emergency evac.
Motorized sport shops are an obvious place to look, but I figure after-market or a specialty maker would be a better source for the real goods..
Appreciate the help. dg

In researching for a pulk, I ran across this company. Check out their dealer search.

The 800 mile Serum Run folks use Siglin Sleds.

Komatiks are cheap and easy to make, but heavy. I've made a small one. If it's big enough, you can haul out another 'bile on it.

Thanks for that , guys. David, the Siglin sleds look right for the job - freighting over snow - they should know, being in Fairbanks, and not stupidly priced. Should work nicely, too for emergency evacs. Thanks! dg
(PS, got to thinkin, too, that an old Royalex type canoe, cut in half, bolt in a back plate and a couple of angle iron skegs, attach a stiffy tongue, and a guy could have a couple of DIY sleds..)

Lol, brilliant on the canoe idea! That's what Steger did on one of his expeditions. Not angle iron but from what I can tell, three runners, laminated wood, uhmw shoes screwed to that. They used these canoes to cross leads too! Sorry, I'm kinda a sled nut. Trad. Finnish pulkas look exactly like canoes cut in half. More lapstrake canoe-like than sled.
Steger, from Life Mag.

The komatik will work in snow too if you lash in a sheet of uhmw under the crossbar lashings.

Why bother cutting the canoe in half? Seems like it would just make it weaker.
