June Mountain, Ca ? was created by filbo
The resort is closed for this winter and having never skied there am curious about the cat track from the bottom area up to the higher lifts.
With the big crowds at MMR and no one at June it could be a nice place to earn some turns while down that way.

Getting ahold of Chuck Mac Laren (
skimac
) might be fruitful for you, Phil. I believe Chuck was a Patroller at June Mountain in a past life.

Junes gonna be great this year. The Face is epic, and the cat track will go really fast, it's pretty mellow too(might be faster than the rickety old chair) Not a better skin to ride ratio around there...The sherwins aren't bad either. I would expect there to be quite a few locals lapping it on pow days.

Former PNWer here, I live in June Lake now. It's not super clear that access will be allowed in the resort (I've heard talk of security being on site to protect equipment, buildings, etc :
). Regardless, you should all come to June Lake this winter and tour. Lots of epic stuff to be had (Negatives, Carson Peak, Mount Wood, Mount Lewis, Mount Downs, Reversed Peak, Obsidian Dome road, etc); big lines as well as steep powder skiing in the trees on the old moraines. Not as much wind as Mammoth, colder, and no crowds. The businesses in town would certainly appreciate your support.

i lived down in mammoth (as well as powhound, [hey saign hows it goin?]) for many years. cant say enough about the goods down there. even if you can skin up the resort, you should be at mt. wood anyway.
it is a bummer though that the negatives are goona take a little more gusto to get to.
