Hi TAYers,

After over 20 years as a Type I diabetic, I finally made the switch to an insulin pump. I chose the OmniPod on the recommendation of my doctor and some research. It's only been a week and I'm still dialing it in, but Wow!, it's amazing the additional control a pump gives you. That said...

Here's the question, assuming that cell phones can cause interference with avalanche transceivers, are their any other TAY diabetics that can give some advice on pump/transceiver issues and mitigation? For instance, I'm assuming that I can "turn off" the pump transmitter, so that the pod goes on auto drip, and just turn on the pump transmitter when I need to recalculate, but... does the pod still put out a signal?

Like I said, I'm on the OmniPod. For those of you not in the know, it's a wireless system with a cell phone like transmitter and a small pod/catheter/reservoir piece that attaches to my body. www.myomnipod.com/about-omnipod/system-overview/

Any help, tips, tricks, and suggestions--both related to the avalanche transceiver question as well as general suggestions regarding using a pump in the winter environment.

Thanks!
Sky
