September Turns...Hood, Baker, or Artist Point? was created by thatoneguydave
Heading out this weekend from Seattle and I have seen a lot of TRs on Hood, couple on Muir, and the Telemon Memorial TR at Artist Point. Hood looks like the quickest access to snow after a loooong drive, Muir looks like a lot hiking with gear on the back for so-so snow, but Artist point seems to be the pretiest hike with some relatively quick access to decent snow.

Has anyone been up to Arist point and this area in the last week or so? Usually the hiking with gear wouldn't be an issue, but trying to work within a timeline...lame...

Thanks for any info or thoughts.

If you want casual, then Artist Point is a good choice. Less than an hour of mostly level walking to some patches that are likely still 500 vf or more. [I was last there Sept 3rd for our Sholes trip]. Just head out the Ptarmigan Ridge trail in the direction of Coleman Pinnacle and choose what looks good for runs.

Thanks James. Headed out past Artist Point, near the Sholes on Saturday and tagged some snow fields out in that area with my wife. Never been there before...great approach, lots of snow still, and great views. Got my first TAY yesterday...already seeking my second straight year.

Thanks.

I did a loop around Coleman Pinnacle a couple weeks ago. The North face has the most snow left with some reasoable lines starting from the saddle N.W. of the Pinnacle close to camp Keizer. Follow the summer trail around the Pinnacle and hikeup the west side of the pinnacle to the saddle and enjoy.
