It's my first year in the BC, and I'm likely soon going to take a trip to Muir.  I know it is a popular route, but never having been, I have a few newbie questions that I was hoping someone could enlighten me about - and what better place to ask than here?

First, is the trail flagged past Pan Point/Pebble Creek?  I imagine at this point in the summer it is a well-trodden route, but I also know that navigation can be difficult in poor conditions.

Second, is this a point in the season where one should be concerned about crevasses showing up on the snowfield?  I know it isn't a glacier, but I've heard tell of crevasses sometimes making an appearance there as well...

(Any other advice for someone making their way up there for the first time is also highly welcome.)

Thanks for the assistance.

regarding navigation...i imagine there is quite the cattle-path by now, but in addition to carrying a map and compass (a gps and/or altimeter couldn't hurt either), you could print out this pdf from the park service giving important navigational waypoints on the snowfield:

www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/upload/ca...arings-map-oct11.pdf

The park service has a climbing conditions blog and it looks like they updated the muir snowfield conditions report just a few days ago....if those really are pictures from Aug 11th, then the snow looks smoother than I would've expected.

Thanks for the suggestions and information.  It is great to know about the park service blog; there is some great conditions information there.
