Awesome images.

I was on the n. side of adams for 6 days and saw the lightening storm. The strikes over Mt. Rainier were incredible!!!! One of my top moments in the mountains for sure. While I caught lightening images as well, the image of strikes over Mt. Rainier is the best image I've ever missed capturing...and I tried! But I had a long lens and pointed it just above the Mountain by mistake. While I saw a number of strikes light up the mountain over about 10 minutes...it didn't happen again for me to take a second exposure by the time I was set up. It's great to see these shots.

Hard to know, but I wonder if the two pictures are of the same strike, just offset by one guy at Sunrise, and one guy at Paradise.

The thing I really like about the first picture is that it depicts a direct strike on the summit of Little Tahoma. The second picture doesn't appear to be the same strike. The second picture looks like the lightning may be striking one of the glaciers high on Rainier, which seems like a strange thing for lightning to do. Or maybe it's just jumping from cloud to cloud.

Great photos.

I don't ever recall seeing lightning storms go on for hours (or even days) in this area.

Mid August, 1999. Mike and I will never forget it because we were pinned down high on the Sulfide on Shuksan for hours by constant flashing with simultaneous booming. Most beautiful scary thing I've ever seen.
