Camp Muir Friday 7/6?

A friend of mine who's training for a Rainier climb asked me to join him this Friday to Camp Muir.

What are the conditions up there? I wonder if I can easily skin up with him from the parking lot, or should I just hike up and down with him. I only have ski crampons and Verts - so should I get climbing crampons if I choose to hike, or can the Verts do OK right now?

Anyone been there recently - I'd love to hear your thoughts

I just skinned up to Muir on Sunday and the conditions were ideal. There were about 5 transitions where I had to take my skis off (following the flags), but they were short and ended around 7500ft. July 6 looks to be very warm so I'm sure you'll be fine without crampons of any sort. But your buddy might be jealous of you smoking him on the downhill.

I am thinking I will have to hike / climb though as otherwise we may as well not be together on the way back... Unless I can convince him to carry his DH skis
