Jim not only gives better directions than me, but is better at presenting the hazards of a tour... My dog did break through a weak water-level snow bridge last weekend and had to swim/spasticly claw her way out of the water. She was fine after shaking off and trying to jump in my lap a couple times (unfortunately not in that order).

From my experience on Sunday I would say its melted out down below and one should either take the road to the top/mid point of the clearcut or go through the woods to the snow line. I wasted enough time in the brush on Sunday (first time...had to earn the right) where as soon as I got home I was looking at maps/topos to figure out a more efficient and easier path. I followed the creek in the woods to the top of the clearcut on the way up and bush whacked the clearcut when the snow ended.

I love me some bush whacking ;)

Jim's directions are good though. Just look up Tinkham/Silver Peaks in the snoqualmie hikes book and that should make the directions to the start more clear.

Thanks everyone for all the intel! It is GREAT up there!! It worked well to stay on the road - just a few bare patches, but the ridge was bushwacky with brush, so we bootpacked up one of the faces. No insects, decent snow, great weather. We will be back next spring for sure! Thanks again!!!!!!!!
