Who is Shannon Mitchell?

While heading up Alpental this morning, I bumped into something I hadn't noticed in almost 15 years of skiing the resort - a pair of skis fastened to a tree in memorial of Shannon Mitchell. They were at the very bottom of Edelweiss Bowl, essentially where the Gun Mount ridge ends. Anyone know her story, who she is? Always interested in the history of the local resorts and the people involved in them - this one seems to have flown under my radar. Thanks for any info!
