Wow - thanks for sharing, Niko!
Glad things turned OK.
Gotta say you look as cool as a cuke

My own personal encounter with a collapsing snow bridge also involved probing (with an ice axe). Fortunately, my partner had me on a boot-axe belay and I only fell in up to my armpit and was able to climb out. I'm no longer a fan of probing a fragile snow bridge.

I have a question.
Why did you not bribe your SAR team into a celebratory heli drop off of fitzsimmons or any of the other peaks in the area?
Oh and thats pretty cool you walked away unscathed and more knowledgable.

I wanted to ski back to base but the guys insisted that I ride back with them (for obvious reasons: I wasn't injured but my head was a little light, and they knew that would be the case), so I went along. No joy ride or heli skiing for me (helicopters terrify me
).
BTW some of the news stories contain an error I need to correct: somebody must have assumed that the depth I mentioned was in metric units (because we were in Canada) and multiplied my numbers by 3 whereas I had already converted it into footage. It was a bad hole but some of the stories make it more like the crevasse in The Ascent of Rum Doodle (without the champagne).

I saw a TV news report on this and the only fact they reported correctly was the area you were in LOL. Glad everyone safe.
