Sisters Beta was created by androolus
Would anyone tell me about skiing the Sisters (or anywhere central oregon-ish) this time of year (May 5-7, 2012)? It looks like the road to Devil's lake is currently being plowed (hwy 46?) and thus closed. I'm willing to do a multi-day tour to get somewhere cool, but am wondering if current access issues make that problematic.

Any beta/advice about where to find and access corn May 5-7 would be appreciated.

It'd be a little longer ski to park at the Dutchman Flat Snow Park.   (6 miles further by road)   The snow park is right at the end of the plowed section of Century Drive.  Broken Top could be accessed fairly quickly and Tumalo Mountain is right at the parking lot.

It's a very small lot though.   You might also be able to park in the Mt Bachelor lot.

Another option might be to park at Three Creek Snow Park off of Three Creek Lake Rd south of Sisters.  You'd be pretty close to Tam Arthur Rim and access to Broken Top and beyond from the other side.

The main thing to know is approaches are long. From the south you have to start at Mt Bachelor as the the earliest Century Drive will be open to Devil's Lake is Memorial Day weekend. For the north, call the FS to find out how close you can get to Pole Creek TH. I suspect it's 5 to 10 miles away.

Sisters aren't really good early spring destinations unless you like long, flat approaches. I'd drive further south to Bailey, McLaughlin, or Shasta, or north to Hood.
