In cooperation with King County Search and Rescue, NWAC, USFS, WSDOT, Summit at Snoqaulmie,...., we have been fortunate to launch our first salvo of avalanche awareness signs around several of the common trailheads at Snoqualmie Pass (Commonwealth - PCT Summit West, Snow Lake Summer Trailhead, and Granite Mt/Pratte Lake). We secured a special use permit from the forest service to post these. These felt like great entrance points that the unaware public would venture into avalanche terrain. Would appreciate any suggestion for other locations for posting. Would love to put appropriate signage up where they would do the most good. Wouldn't want to post if unnecessary and just creates clutters in the woods.

In addition, we've also launch the first proto-type of a beacon check station for the US Forest Service. This is currently located across the street from Alpental at the trailheads going up the Phantom and the Snow Lake summer trail. Would appreciate any feedback and suggestions for appropriate locations of others.

Also, we feel very fortunate to get the attentions from Komo TV on this and hope it will continue to spread the word on avalanche education, awareness, and safety. Please enjoy this coverage at:

Note: apologies this isn't off KomoTV's website. Looked around and couldn't find it posted. If anyone does find it, please post on this thread.

You might want to cross post this over on NWhikers and Cascade Climbers. Most of the people I've run into out there with beacons or having checked the forecast were on snowshoes.
