Pieps DSP wierdness / Error Code E22

While I was digging a pit (mosly for practice) on Sunday my Pieps DSP started beeping at me and displaying E22 -- turning it off and on again cleared things up -- but it was a bit disconcerting.

I did some searching and found this:

E22 = Receiver strength is effected on all three antennas due Iron masses nearby, or other electronic apparatuses signal interference or having another beacon interference nearby (less than 5 meters.)
Action: Turn transceiver off, rectify and or eliminate above problems, turn transceiver on and continue

I'm wondering if the steel saw blade in my Voile T-Wood saw might have be the source of the trouble or perhaps the cell phone I had in my jacket pocket.

Have others have also experienced E22 or other error codes on their Pieps DSP ?

This has happened to me - its cell phone interference I think.

I've had it happen a few times - typically it means another electronic device (phone or transceiver) or chunk of metal (car?) nearby when turning it on. There is a companion code (I think E23) that confirms it.

I also experienced this a couple years back, when carrying my cell in the napoleon pocket of my jacket. Research at the time indicated that a distance of ~1m needed to be maintained from other electronics. Doing so eliminated the problem. Hope this helps.

I have received similar errors when my radio, cell, and beacon were on the same side of my body. I now wear my beacon opposite from cell phone and radio and haven't received the error.
