Lost Ski April 8 on Crystal Peak was created by patrickdaniels
Lost a ski near the top of Crystal Peak on Sunday April 8. My third turn into butt pucker chute, skier's right side on north face of Crystal Peak, a wind slab let loose around me. I went for a ride in the slide, during which my left ski and left pole were ripped off, ran in the the slide debris and were buried. Good outcome for me not getting buried, but we couldn't find the ski in the slide debris, which ran a good long way down the chute. We did find my pole in the debris towards the bottom of the chute.
Lost ski is - 181cm K2 Sidestash with Marker Baron binding.
Where is Crystal Peak? www.peakbagger.com/peak.aspx?pid=25192
Please post on this thread if you happen to be at Crystal Peak and find my ski. Good karma and a modest reward available.

Tim - yes, my ski and my pole were taken in the slide as you know since you were there. After agreeing on the search and exit plan (on one ski for me), you did find the missing pole thank you. However, to be clear to all viewing this thread, the ski is still missing.... it's still on Crystal Peak. The pole was found, but not the ski.

Sorry to hear of the ski loss Patrick...
Even better that the ride was not as severe.
I was wondering/concerned last week if anyone would get caught on the North face of CP. There has been a weird weak layer hiding under the North faces up in that area at about that elevation for a couple weeks now. I was fearing that it would possibly let loose off of Crystal Peak's NW side. Sorry that your research confirmed my anxieties, glad you are OK, but good for a future reference. That is a tough get (your ski) when it melts out.
Also for those planning a visit there, a thing to beware of since we have had a warming trend are the cornices above the NW chutes.
