New Belgium Scavenger Hunt--April Fools, 2012 was created by sheispiste
This was no ordinary April Fools. A chance to sport some crazy costumes, enjoy New Belgium beer, benefit KEXP, and of course ski-- was not to be missed. Dod and I drove off from our daffodil filled driveway
for the Summit.
We registered for the New Belgium Scavenger Hunt, a first time Washington event. It was snowing. The sun was shinning. With some 7 inches in the last 24 hours, this was no ordinary spring. Although there was in fact, a spring chicken. And a Sasquatch, a Park Ranger, a Disco Queen, and a Cowgirl. These costumed cool cats were the moving targets/clues for the hunt.
Game on. May the odds ever be in your favor. We chased a team of bananas and their gorilla out to Silver Fir, and to the crossover for our first scavenger hunt item. It felt a bit like the Hunger Games, searching the forest for the single spade, and running through the other clues in my head. Snow was light and luscious in the trees and nearly untracked under the power lines. We even found some secret ‘Staches (the handlebar kind, but not the handlebars on a bike). We found the tutus on top of Nose Dive and Free Fall, which held deep Cascade concrete, not as tracked out as I might have expected.
It was still snowing hard when we took a break for lunch. We finished at 3 pm with celebratory beers and prizes, and a chook raffle, of sorts.
Team Newlyweds took first!
Kuddos to KEXP and the folks at the pass.
Thanks to TAY and JW who once said to me, “Do what you love, and you’ll find your life partner.”
