Winds of 46 with gusts to 71 in the opening hour, sounds like they nailed the predication. Also looks like more wind in store for tomorrow.
Ken
OK, they got it right in the morning, I'll give them that, but things seemed to be dying down by about 11-- no "wind holds" anymore? Also, why not open up other chairs down low (Quicksilver, Gold Hills) to open things up a bit on a powder day? All right, I'm done complaining about Crystal; the place still kicks ass.

I agree...Once in a blue moon being maybe 100% right on the day before predictions – even then it was kinda fuzzy...maybe...and I agree that there was not even a slight attempt at a wind hold for a hour or tow, watched a whole lot of lifts opps working on digging out the bottom of REX for the first hour or two yesterday (and the bottom of the bucket early), but it was obvious that there would be no opening, watched most of the ski patrol working the rope lines around CB lodge early morning, controlling the slide paths off the building...but based on this thread the bigger complaint is the Alpy schedule, finally went last Tuesday for night skiing - a whole lot of fun and I missed it this week cause Tuesday was the one big day at Crystal (and everywhere else!). But an even bigger complaint would be the one management team for both areas - really missed getting to Alpental late season last year (Cinco de Mayo, etc) and the soups seem to be the same weird stuff as at Crystal – whats with that?…OK, they got it right in the morning, I'll give them that, but things seemed to be dying down by about 11-- no "wind holds" anymore? Also, why not open up other chairs down low (Quicksilver, Gold Hills) to open things up a bit on a powder day? All right, I'm done complaining about Crystal; the place still kicks ass.

Hi Sonn,
One of the reasons is that City League is done racing for the season. I am not sure if you have been at Alpental at night, but aside from City League, there has been next to nobody skiing/riding. Alpental will operate Thursday and Friday night next week. We will extend the night schedule at Alpy if guests are coming up so tell your friends!
