Helichopter searching Baker BC Sun night (2-26

I was camped up on Ptarmigan Ridge, nearby the Mt. Baker ski area this weekend. On Sunday night we heard a helicopter flying around for a few hours. I dragged my arse out of the snowcave to check it out and saw them shining the searchlight around the upper reaches of Swift Creek beneath Artist Point, then up on the south side of Table Mountain. Given the late hour, all the new snow and the frigid temps, we assumed it meant bad news, but I haven't seen anything in the news. Anybody know what they were doing?

Wow.. Sounds like he had some great touring partners... I guess it is noteable that someone in the group (presumably) at leastcalled the authorities..

I'm glad they found him as it was quite cold that night. Spending the night out unprepared would have been very unpleasant at best. Thanks for the link!

Makes me think about how some of "us" are particular about group size. That's a big enough group to not notice someone missing for a while.
