The recent Black Hole Couloir trip report got me thinking about back country repair gear.

My ace in the hole has always been to carry a hundred feet of p-cord in my pack.  I figure i can fix (bindings, buckles...) or build (sled, harness...) anything with a sufficient amount of p-cord.

However, I recently decided that it might be wise to carry a half-dozen 14 inch zip ties in my pack.  Zip ties seem like the ideal thing for all kinds of repairs out in the field.

I'm curious, what essential repair gear does everyone else carry?

I know this is an obvious one, but I'm going to say it anyway: duct tape.

I also carry a pack strap w/ me when I go out.

+1 for the Voile (or any other brand) straps.

The longest ones gove most versitility! I wear it under my knee/above my boot when I ski. Used two of these to repair blown O1 cables on a Broken Top tour... Fixed within 5min.
