PLB Choices??? was created by JDHall
I work with an organization guiding hiking trips during the summer for high school and middle school age kids. We have decided that a PLB would be a good addition to our emergency gear, any recommendations or experiences that you can share would be appreciated.

Our informal group has two McMurdo Fast Find units. I can't advise re how well they work because we've never had to push the panic button. We bought them because they are small and lightweight.

I got the ACR ResQlink for Christmas. Was told it is the smallest and lightest on the market. It's small enough to carry all the time IMO. Hope I never have to use it!

McMurdo fastfind.... when I bought mine last year the ACR ResQLink wasn't out, but it looks like both are about the same.
Wasn't interested in the SPOT due to weak signal or any other options that required a maintenance fee...my two cents is stick to the simple ones that have the panic button and no extra costs.
