Lost ski... help if you can was created by dswiz
Hey so a really shitty situation came upon my friends and I... lost a ski during a fall in the Baker back country near the Mt Hermon Saddle. Very interesting day... none of us could could believe we couldn't find. We searched for about 4 or 5 hours and nothing. Turned the line inside out, but still nothing. We checked to see if it had run down hill, but no luck but were not ruling that out.

If anyone out there comes across it it would be more than awesome if could be returned. You would relieve more than just me as I borrowed the skis from a friend.

Also, though another wild reuest, if some has a single single K2 mt baker 174cm ski, possibly from a smilar incident....... also a single AT binding would be a miracle as well.

Thanks for taking the time to hear my plea.. If you got something to help me out let me know and we can work it out.

Attached is a a map and the red area is the general area we lost the ski.

Contact your ski and binding manufacturers/distributors. I did this something similar once and Karhu sent me a matching single ski for hardly any money: they've sometimes got mismatches, returns, or seconds sitting around.

On another occasion I lost a camera a bit later in the year than this. Mid-June was the right time to go back looking; I found it, barely melted out (and still functional). Yet another day I lost a Whippet and sunglasses in a crash--never did turn them up despite thrashing around in lower-fifth class heather for a while after summer melt. You never know.

Hey thanks for the tip about contacting the manufacturer. Ima definitely do that.

And Erik im possibly interested in the single ski you got. You still have the binding on them?? That would be awesome because those are the same ones my friend had on his.

I tried to contact K2 to see if they could help me obtain a single ski without having to buy a whole new pair. I never got a response. I ended up buying a pair of K2 Waybacks to replace it.

I still have the single Superlight ski, but no binding.

The bindings were purchased at REI. I told my story to a friend who works there. I experienced spontaneous releases earlier in the day. The fall where I lost my ski had more to do with me losing the ski first then falling, rather than vice versa. He said this sounded like a "malfunction" and suggested I return the binding. I was able to return the single binding and subsequently upgraded to Dynafit. The skis I purchased from backcountry.com so I couldn't return the single ski to REI.

Good luck. There may still be a single binding in the REI garage :-P
