Diamond Peak, Oregon

Tell me about Diamond Peak in winter.
Driving up from California via the 97.
Is highway 58 the only access?
Where should I camp?
Where do I pick up a Forest Pass?
Is the 'ST' ski run really that steep? Is the resort worth it?
Places to eat?

Crater Lake will be one of our stops. Already done McLaughlin, Pelican Butte, Bailey, Thielsen, Mt. Scott(from the 97) and all three Sisters.
Looking for something new.

Willamette Pass is an excellent small ski area off Highway 58 that has nice steeps and tree runs. It's currently not open due to lack of snow, but might be good in a few weeks, conditions depending. Most folks usually access Diamond from the west via Oakridge. It's about an hour drive from there, but the access roads are near 5000 feet, and typically aren't in condition for driving in the winter. That said, we skied it a few weeks ago and were able to drive to the TH. Shoot me a pm if you want some more info.

I accidentally ordered the wrong topo map. I wanted one of Diamond Peak area. Anyone know of a place along the 97 that I could buy one?

Try the general store in Crescent Lake Junction across from Manley's.....pretty sure they have a decent map of Diamond.
