Boot Repair Question was created by Farrgo
Recently broke a buckle rivet on my T1s. I've tried to jimmy-rig it with a nut and bolt but that fix only lasts for a day or two max. Does anybody know of a shop that can put a new rivet in? I called a boot repair shop in Seattle and they said they won't deal with hardware.

Sturtevants in Bellevue has done a number of rivet repairs on my wife's boots. I think Pro Ski does them as well.

Where did you buy the boots? If you bought them from a local shop, give them a call... In most cases they either they will repair it or send it out to a shop that knows how to do it correctly.

Also for self-repair with a nut and bolt -- applying glue to the threads before assembly usually prevents loosening. Polyurethane or slow cure epoxy should work well. Avoid Loctite -- the solvents in Loctite are known to have a bad effect on plastics.

Bill Mates did a cuff rivet on my T-2s (Scarpa suggested him) and the Pro Guide shop did a cuff rivet on my Zzero 4s (Dynafit suggested them).

Jim Mates? He's done buckle and cuff rivets for me as well, and he has tons of factory Scarpa parts. Don't know what you mean by a "boot" shop, but any qualified ski shop that handles tele/rando gear (as in the ones mentioned already) should be able to deal with this in a few minutes.
