Crystal Mountain north boundary gates A, B, C, D was created by CascadeSkier
...can anyone provide info/trip reports for what lies beyond the north boundary of crystal mountain?...specifically, pros/cons of exiting the resort through gates A, B, C, D that provide access through the north boundary rope line (i.e. via morning glory/brand x)...the maps look like you could ride the ridge/nose all the way down to the intersection of route 410 and the boulevard...thanks...

Those gates enter a area known as the Valley of a thousand cliffs for good reasons.
I don't recommend attempting to ride down to 410 unless you like 500 feet of good skiing followed by 4,500 feet of hiking down, over and around old growth forest that holds no snow.

The Goat Cliffs as they are also called have a few skiable lines, of which you have to find the summer trail to get back to the old pick up spot of Northback. You can also find lines down to 410 directly off the back side of Morning Glory then skate to the 410/access road junction.
All of the above are riddled with cliffs that can shut you down, so be prepared to back track if you are out exploring without local knowledge.

...given that last season was a great snow year, what kind of use do each of the gates typically get?...which then brings up the question, if the area is so gnarly, why does patrol even list gates on their trail map?...thanks...

It depends. Not much activity compared to Crystal Lakes or areas around southback. "Why does patrol put gates there?" so people who know what they are doing can go there. patrol tries to have as open a boundary as possible. imagine a ski area where its illegal to leave the ski area boundary.... lame.
