Nisqually Chutes Beta was created by dkburberry
About 1 month ago I finished my splitboard but have only been able to use it in the last week. Anyways, last Sunday I skinned up to Anvil rock for my second tour and ended up riding the east side of the snow field for some good turns until after pan point. On the way up I got a good look at the chutes, and wanted to ride them but I have never been down on the Nisqually. Anyways I was hoping to get some beta so I could do them this Thursday if the weather allows. My main question is do the chutes put you on the glacier proper or can you traverse the east side and stay off the glacier entirely. In addition how far down is the best to ride to and where should you start to climb back up to paradise. Lastly does anyone have any recent beta on how the chutes are riding.
Thanks

David

Hi David, Welcome to TAY.
I emailed you a tour track map of a suggested first time descent of the main Nisqually Chute.
You will see that you can stay on the lateral moraine and avoid the glacier entirely if you like.
Additionally, there is a rather logical ramp below Glacier Vista to utilize in climbing out of the Nisqually moraine.
Have fun; be safe.
