Booting steeps with cuffs locked was created by tele.skier
I booted up a somewhat steep slope (~35+ degrees) the other day and did so with my boots buckled and cuffs locked in an "upright" ski mode. I thought it felt less tiring on my calf muscles since I didn't have to use muscles to maintain the angle of my foot at my ankle as I booted up with the cuff angle locked. I drove pressure to the ball of the boot with my shin and stepped with the other foot.... It seemed less tiring.
I am talking strictly about boot up steeps where you don't really extend your ankle NOT walking on the flat ground where you do extend your ankle to stride.....
.... anyone find this to be true.....???

When booting steeps (with Titans)I typically will loosely buckle, and give a little pressure on the power strap but stay in walk mode. This gives me the desired effect you described. While skinning I loosely buckle the lower 2 buckles and let the upper buckles and strap fly loose.
