European tourist, backcountry skier style? was created by silaswild
What must see sights are on the skier's to do list in Europe? No churches, monuments, or city centers for us, although maybe one could call the Trab factory or Dynafit research center churches or monuments in our culture perhaps. Yesterday I was honored to meet Mario Sarner, long time Garmont boot designer stolen away by Dynafit in 2005. Fortunately he has not yet retired, instead he blessed the rando ski community with a boot (the DyNA and its successor TLT5) as well thought out as the TLT classic binding. Seeing the design and development space (200sq ft) for Dynafit boots was one of the seven wonders of my skier world, unfortunately no photos allowed. Lou Dawson was there earlier this year, and he did get photos and a good description on wildsnow.com
Of course, after the tour it was time for fine Italian pizza nearby, and then a long (but scenic) train ride back to Innsbruck.

Cool!
Were you looking for suggestions???
Have you seen the 1936 Olympics facilities in Garmisch?
The cemetery in Cortina with the monument to guides KIA is worth a look.

Nah, I did not tell Mario anything except, 'You are the man, thanks for an awesome boot!' In case you have not seen it, the TLT5 boot has only two buckles, your wish has been granted.
Maybe time for spinach ravioli at our favorite restaurant in Wallingford?
