Your poles cost $500????

Of course not, but I can ski without a camera ...  ;)

Oh yeah, and I had gotten tired of photography and sold my SLRs, multiples lenses, etc. that cost over a thousands for pennies on the dollar.

I'm waiting for my film gear to drop lower in price so I can justify not doing anything about selling it. And I've replaced my $1000s of film gear with more $1000s of digital gear. But I have a better return on the digital gear.

Skiing is way cheaper than taking photography seriously. You can buy a lot of skis for the $5000 it costs for a good camera/lens combo (i.e. one camera, one lens). And then who can have only one camera/lens? That's worse than having one set of skis!

You have less than $5,000 in ski gear?  :(  Boots, skis, binding, poles, packs, transciever, probe, shovel, altimeter, clothes?

My current boots alone: nnn-bc, Merrell leather, Karhu converse, brown t-3, black t-3, blue t-2, Zzero 3, Zero 4, TLT 5 ... I can't remember all the skis I've kept (or even the ones I've given away to my stepson or sold cheaply to friends) ;D
