Interesting track seen on the Emmons Glacier from Crystal Mountain. The photo was taken with a cell phone camera, so it's not great.
It appears that a serac toppled at around 9600ft and slid down the glacier to around 7000ft. According to TOPO the path length would have been about 1.44 miles. That makes the slope angle only about 19 degrees. Quite a ride!

I was looking at that yesterday and wondering about it. I was trying to figure out how wide it might have been. Interesting indeed.

I think we saw the tail-end of it happening while gazing at the mountain from our lounge chairs.
