Yee haaa.  It'll be like the Oklahoma Land Rush.  Go on an git yers.  IMHO, it's a travesty that hwy 20 exists at all.  That someone consumes fuel to clear this stretch of otherwise perfectly fine and orderly wilderness is icing on the cake.  Give the great bar some room to roam south towards the tourists and dumpsters of Leavenworth.  Give the wolverines some room to breath.  Let's put a little bit of suspense, red in tooth and claw, back into the mix in the Washington Cascades.

If a wolverine or a bar? gets in my way when hwy20 opens I'm going to run them over then stop, then reverse over them, pee on them, roar like a lion, then skin the little buggers and rush up to the pass and then start a fire and roast bar? haunch on an open fire while wearing the wolverine's hide while drinking beer and smoking cigarettes and looking at porn on my laptop. Then I'll ski next morning.

It's true, Hwy 20 scars the wilderness and it's a paradox for those of us who simultaneously want to love nature without destroying it. I for one, love the access it brings so regularly accept the sin and irony of burning fossil fuels to breath north cascade mountain air. I've seen a bar crossing the road near Ruby crk but would be more thrilled to see a griz in the bc and am content to know the wolverine is still lurking. I'll drive to the trailhead then tread lightly on my AT gear! :D.

Re. Scotsman's reply, as a non-smoking, anti-hunting for the thrill of killing, liberal environmentalist, I still found his comments pretty funny. Skiing and laughing are both good for the heart.

definitely funny

In case anyone missed it, critics of Scotsman's post were deleted. So much for the theories of cronyism and cospiracy. Unless, perish the thought, Scotsman has joined the rank of the dreaded cronies.

I do wonder if his post had not had his moniker on it if anyone would have taken offense. I have always enjoyed Scotsman's humor. I would be sorry to see him go if he tires of being judged by past performance.
