Natural stride plate for AT'ers? was created by davidG
Poached from teatips. Posted by the inventor, Stefano Maruelli. Added complexity (moving parts), but maybe...? Pretty clever.

Whoa! It might be easier to Tele backwards, now.
But if he wanted to free the toes, why not just put a 75MM duckbill on the heel of every boot?
It looks like a little locomotive - I can picture a tiny steam engine on each foot, too...
It does look like a comfortable motion, though. Thinking "Out of the Binding".

These came out at least a year ago and are the subject of at least 3 TGR threads. Natural stride? No. This gizmo allows a skier to use a wholly unnatural stiff footed heel slapping stride, joining runners who use a wholly unnatural stride in straight board-lasted motion control heel slapper running shoes. Hmmmmm.

It's hard to knock the effort to think outside the box.
That said...It looks a little like the guy is imitating a cat that has tape on it's paws when he is walking. I would think that when you get in snow where you are trying to get the shovel on top of, the tips would drag in the snow and make it more of an effort. And when the snow turns gloppy what happens to all the packed snow?
Interesting to see his concept. Never occurred to me to place upward motion in the front of the bindings.

Yeah your right, but not as dramatic as those Artemus Gordon clacking contraptions.
