Van Trump MRNP ski beta was created by evan
Anyone have recent beta on Van Trump park approach and skiing conditions?  I am looking at two approaches - one from Comet Falls TH, and the other, from Nisqually bridge.

I'm looking for the easiest way to get into the Van Trump park for a day of nice BC skiing.

Any topo or pics (even from Muir side looking west) would be nice to see.

Thanks,

Evan

I can't comment on recent conditions but as to ease of access and trail head options, when I typed Van Trump into the search function box in the masthead a few minutes ago, I was rewarded with a huge list of old TR's that involved Van Trump many of which contained very useful information and beta.

This isn't particularly recent but has worked forever and is the best way I know of into Van Trump Park: Begin at the Christine Falls TH and instead of crossing the creek, follow its left side staying a reasonable distance above the creek. Where the creek makes a distinctly obvious turn to the right (obvious on map as well) leave it and ascend up and left through big timber to Rampart Ridge which is followed into Van Trump Park. Direct route, essentially free of hazard except maybe just a teeny bit crossing the mondo gully into the park proper.

Real easy to get mixed up on Rampart Ridge on the descent if your up track is snowed over; we lost a guy there for a while back in the last century before electronics.
