pro guiding in north bend offers the Mojo rental- saw it last week on display as 'rent me'. probably includes skins and poles too- not sure.

do you think splitboards, being mounted pretty specifically, will start to be common place in backcountry rental quivers for local shops? there certainly is interest... but i can't imagine it's cost effective...

Marmot in Bellvue did it for a while and (I think) stopped due to wear vs. profit.

I beat the hell out of mine, especially in the spring-fall window, and I can imagine the "it's a rental" mindset really takes hold after a long day, much like I stop caring about anything other than get-to-the-truck after 12-14 hours.

So, rental gear, tired, possibly inexperienced rider, = trashed split. My guess is that it is a losing proposition for stores. The margin on new sales is pretty low and they have a significant return rate too. It is kind of a miracle they exist at all!

Please, then, rent the heck out of this one Pro guiding has, and be gentle!
