I busted the tower off one my 20+ yr old Dynafit heel pieces.  It broke right where the metal tower bends to accept the plastic "button".  It broke at the hole that the button afixing bolt goes through.  The button is where the boot heel rests while on "high post".

I've never taken these apart.  It looks like there are 4 (or 6) small torx or allen screws that hold this metal tower piece on.  Any advice taking this off to replace my busted one?  Are the screws a standard torx or allen head or do I need to by a special shop tool to get these out.  Will it shoot springs at me the second the last screw is removed?  Thank you.

Oh BTW any one out there want to donate a cast off heel piece to a good cause.  I guess it is worth a little $ to me if you'd like.

Thank you

a small allen wrench will take those wee little screws off the top plate...

edit- oops actually, i think they're torx screws

before you start unscrewing the top plate and disassembling the binding, make sure to dial both DIN settings down to zero, otherwise, the springs will be loaded with pressure and may go flying across the room.

Dawson's DIY page on dynafit heels, if this helps.

Heh... I almost ruined the last two days of Kirsten's skiing at Icefall because of that...

I have a spare. You pick it up and it’s yours.
