However much these actions would benifit the TAY crew at Hyak, I seriously doubt anyone would be stupid or malicious enough to do this.

That sucks.
There's no benefit here to the TAY crowd, as on-site vandalism will lead to much stricter off-hours control of who's allowed to use their slopes, in my opinion.

It does suck if it's true.
The post on the Hyak community site has of yet to be confirmed by the OP or area management for that mater. We also don't know which chair was effected based upon that post, it could be the HV chair, not the triple.
As of this time, we do know that chairs are hung, and a maintenance crew did a lap on them.
Next up would be a load test.

There is a benefit of extended "touring" options at weekends but that is far out weighed by the lack of chair operations at any time and controls as Marcus points out. Maybe should have been clearer when inferring that. To be honest, the summit would surely realise that touring folk wouldn't do this. How do you get off hours control anyway, its not their land to rope off? Security camera in the huts?
That sucks.

Who am I to know? I'm just thinking longer term -- if the Summit needs to protect its investment it will do so. How effective their methods would be is up for debate, and maybe they could do nothing (I really have no idea).
I would imagine the terms of their lease include the rights to protect their property from vandalism -- I wonder if that could be reasonably extended to limiting off-hours access via threat of fine/penalty? As I said, no idea, but I'd rather not find out.

Much of Hyak is private land. The base, face and backside are private. The north trails are on forest service land as well as the south side (out of bounds).
