Ahh, the change in field via the change in resolution makes sense. I've been shooting 1080 on mine, which is probably why there's less visible distortion.

Or you could attach the camera to the end of your probe for a BC parascope... Hang it over a cornice to see how close to the edge you can get, hold it up over shortish trees to get a better sense of direction when in the forest, the possibilities are endless!
