Snoqualmie Crust Status? was created by gorp
Anyone been touring in the Snoqualmie area in the last two days? Curious if yesterday's snow has covered the trap crust from Tuesday or if the skiing (in the backcountry) is still unfavorable...

Skied Kendall yesterday - there were places up high where you could point it and float above the crust on about 8-10" of wind-affected fresh, but mostly the new snow was too light and/or the crust too close to the surface. Tree-bombed hard frozen snow in the forest was not pretty.

I yo-yo'd the alpental backcountry today, and i have to say it was probably the best backcountry day i have had in a while. Up top you could only barely find that crust buried under 2 feet of fluffy dry powder. The word that sums up the day is face shots... up top was amazing, and below was mediocre for the backcountry, but the crust is very much gone. I am stoked to be a skiier on a day like today!

Crust is alive and well in places.  I think the trick is to ski on big, huge, fat skis.  Worked today. ;)

Partner with less than 125 under foot claimed it was "crappy".
