for a variety of reasons, i follow precipitation in the west.  If you click the ftp data link at the bottom of the page (from the above link), you come to a page where if you navigate up one directory and click on the map folder you find a large number of precipitation data analyses through the NRCS system.  One of them suggests this years' La Nina legacy - perhaps the wettest on record?  ftp://ftp.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/data/water/w...WYTDPrecipRecord.pdf

edited to note that link is not currently operating correctly - should be showing entire Tahoe basin, eastern Nevada and most of Utah and part of Colorado at record precip YTD.

I am so tired of reading "most of the energy digging to the south, to California". On the bright side, Im just glad we (the PNW) are getting dissed during the holidays.

There was 8" in the lot at 0830 today 10-12" by 1000 and still snowing hard @ 1230. This new snow plus the constant 2-4" every day for the last week had my eight year old waist deep today, it was over my knees where there was no cat compaction.
