Unless I missed an earlier mention of this somewhere, our own TAYer, Jason Hummel deserves another accolade.
He has again made the pages of Backcountry Magazine. This time in the December issue (the 2011 Photo Annual Edition) with no less than TWO stories on him, the first entitled "Into the Light" starting on pg 30 and wrapping up on pg 106 (not pg 80 as noted in the article). This is an article done by Backcountry about Jason and his impressive mountain endeavors.
The second is "Just the Picket" on pg 44, Jason's Photo/Essay on the traverse he and Forest McBrian of the North Cascades Picket Range.
Great to be rubbing elbows with fame, eh?
I can already smell more product endorsement offers coming in
Marcus, you may have to start paying Jason for posting here out of the Huge profits you're raking in with TAY
Nicely done, Jason.
High Five.

Thanks Ron. I appreciate the dibs. Although, I don't know about rubbing elbows with fame ...just trying to share the love and extend my break as a pseudo ski bum. Thanks go to Backcountry for sharing some of Washington with other ski lovers.
BTW, there was a misquote on pg 106...actually not so much a misquote as an omission. I believe Washington has a ski mountaineering culture. Lowell has shown we most certainly do. I went on to clarify that statement (which was an hour telephone interview/conversation). Since I was in Peru, I never saw it before print.
Thanks guys!
It was really cool to see the night photo of the NE Face of Fury in a double page spread!
Oh, product endorsements. I only endorse TAY
. (Actually, I've only gotten about 40 dollars of free gear in my life)

Ron, Thanks for starting this thread. I am just finishing my December copy of Backcountry. It is wonderful to see someone we know be recognized for their skill and passion.
Jason, your images cause me to pause and enjoy and say to Jill - "wow did you see the article and photos by Jason Hummel in Backcountry". Your photo in the Outdoor Research Sidecountry/ Backcountry insert in Backcountry was a nice touch. Man, you own that issue.
Follow your dreams and your heart. You've got a following in the PNW.
The Best,
Zap

Great story and photos, Jason. Congratulations!
Regarding the misquote, you might consider writing a letter to the editor to clarify what you meant. They could print it in a later issue. I've had enough bad experiences with how people outside the Northwest perceive our region that it would be best not to give them more fodder.
